I would like to thank all our parents who attended the various information evenings, your support is greatly appreciated and vital to the success of your child’s education. Research has shown that a successful student is the one who has very involved and supportive parents.

Thank you to all our Grade 1 parents who so eagerly took part in our workshop on Saturday 25th January, it was once again a huge success.

The annual SISA Inter Primary athletics meeting was held on Tuesday 28th January at Noorderlig. I would like to congratulate all our athletes and staff on the outstanding results achieved. Our athletes won a total of 91 medals. Congratulations to the following athletes who won Gold medals:

A big thank you to all our Grade 8 parents for supporting our new grade 8 pupils at their orientation concert, which was very entertaining once again and showcased the many talents our pupils have.

As indicated in Newsletter 1, Ashbury has formed a partnership with Planet Fitness in order to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst our staff, pupils and parents. Attached to this newsletter is the special offer Planet Fitness is giving to the parents and pupils of Ashbury.

Welcome back to yet another year at Ashbury College


Dear Parents

I would like to welcome back all our pupils and parents, and wish you all a happy and prosperous new year. I hope and trust you all had a wonderful festive season and am looking forward to an exciting and eventful 2020.

To all our new pupils and parents, welcome to the Ashbury family, I am looking forward to meeting you all and I hope your relationship with the school will be a rewarding and fruitful one. I would like to welcome Mr. G. Mapanda, Mr. J. Diuthwileng and Miss. C. Cockeran to the High School and Mrs. M. Bornman, Mr. S. Marima and Mrs. H. Pahla to the Preparatory school. Our pupils achieved very good results academically, on the sports field and in cultural activities in 2019 and our goal once again will be to achieve even better results this year.

Congratulations to our Gr.12 class of 2019 on achieving outstanding results in their examinations. Congratulations to: Boipelo Mothibe – 5 Distinctions, Mihlali Sinhonho – 4 Distinctions, Matome Gafane – 3 Distinctions and Reabetsoe Magubane – 2 Distinctions. Overall the College achieved 17 Distinctions.

Some interesting additions to the school programme this year include, Action Ball, who will be doing physical education activities in the Pre-school; Europa Football Academy will be coaching our boys’ football; we are introducing a much-improved aftercare in the preparatory school; in order to promote health and fitness, the school has partnered with Planet Fitness. As part of our ongoing upgrades to the College we have added a beautiful double storey classroom block in the High School.

I would like to remind all our parents that you are an integral part of Ashbury’s success and that your input and support is always valued. Remember our school motto is: “TOGETHER WE GROW”. As I have indicated on many occasions, I have an open-door policy and am prepared to discuss any problem you may have with regard to your child’s schooling at Ashbury. It is however important to make an appointment via the office. A problem can only be solved if we are made aware of it.

I would like to remind all parents that school time for the whole school Grade 1 – 12 is 07:55 to 14:00. Please ensure that your children arrive on time and prepared for the school day. Extra mural activities start at 14:30 and end at 15:30. Parents are please to make transport arrangements accordingly.
